SYNOPSIS
"Buih-buih Sabun (Bubbles) – patah tumbuh hilang berganti aims to bring a message of great importance to the Malay masses. While it is comforting to believe in tradition and to adopt the mindsets and beliefs of the previous generations, we should also learn to accept changes in our lives, be them changes of economy, society, or more importantly, mindset. This is especially important with all the recent changes that have affected or are affecting the Malay community in this present time and age."
Although change should be accepted and embraced, we must also remember that how we change is a decision that can only be made by our own selves. When changing, we should be constantly reminded of our beliefs and our values, and strive to uphold them.
Finally, just as change can happen, change can dissolve into emptiness. Even though change is always happening, without any efforts on our part to keep changing, change will cease to exist and history will repeat itself. Using the concept of bubbles that emerge in huge numbers, yet burst if unsheltered, change will cease into nothing without the essence of self.
Through the use of traditional concepts such as the story of Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat, as well as the chemistry behind the formation and sustenance of bubbles, Buih-buih Sabun strives to impart to the Malay masses the importance of accepting, controlling and upholding change, for change is the new constant, and there is not much that we can do to change it.
The audience will be mesmerized with the interesting usage of props and extensive use of lighting. Huge white cloths will be used in ways you've never seen before. They are several surprise elements to keep you glued to your seats and the intriguing sound of live music brings the whole production together, creating a unique ambience.
As part of their 10th year anniversary celebrations, NUS Ilsa Tari is inviting several guest performers from Teater Tari Era (Era Dance Theatre, part of PA Talents) and local musicians from various performing groups in Singapore.
